An inspirational SIPS home that redefines the meaning of accessible living has been crowned as Best SIPs Project of the Year at the 2025 Structural Timber Awards.
At a gala dinner held at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham, Holme House - which was also Highly Commended in the Custom & Self Build category - was the highest scoring entry for a project built using SIPs technology.
Self built by Jonny & Kara Scott to accommodate Kara’s specific needs as a wheelchair user, the SIPS@Clays project was seen to set a new bar in accessible design, clearly demonstrating that by using SIPs, you don’t have to choose form over function.
Ian Clay, Founding Partner SIPS@Clays said: “We’re thrilled that Holme House has been named as Best SIPs Project of the Year by the Structural Timber Awards judging panel, despite being up against some impressive competition.
“Designed using SIPs from the outset, Jonny & Kara have created a stunning home that is energy efficient, stylish and functional and have created a lifestyle for them and their young family, that is not defined by accessibility.
“It’s been a pleasure working on this project with Jonny & Kara and we’re delighted that Holme House has been recognised amongst the structural timber community as an exemplar for SIPs construction.
