SIPS@Clays partners Ian and Darren joined dignitaries, grant providers, suppliers, sponsors and construction partners recently to celebrate the grand opening of the Skipton Community Sports Hub.
The 3,500sq ft facility was constructed using structural insulated panels which were supplied, SIPs designed, fabricated and installed by SIPS@Clays on behalf of architects Rural Solutions.
Alongside representatives from Skipton Juniors Football Club, Skipton Cricket Club and 100 other guests involved in the project, Ian and Darren watched as Under 15 cricketer, Millie Thompson-Barker and U9 footballer Oliver Schofield cut the ribbon to officially mark the opening.
Ian commented: “It was great to be here this evening to celebrate the opening of this fabulous community project.
“As a company that is embedded within the Skipton Community, the satisfaction of seeing the positive impact that the community hub has already made, goes beyond business. We are so proud to have been a part of this project and we look forward to seeing the facility continue to serve the local community for years to come."
Malcolm Birks, chairperson, Skipton Community Hub said: “The development of The Hub has been nine years in the making and it’s amazing to see that a project, that was borne out of a vision centred on the values and power of community sport has been embraced not only by the sports clubs that joined forces to deliver it but by the Skipton community as a whole. It really is a tremendous asset to the town.”
Using high performance SIPs construction for the superstructure of the hub means that the building is highly insulated, energy efficient and airtight. Complemented by an air source heat pump, photovoltaic panels, underfloor heating and low energy lighting, Skipton Community Sports Hub is a sustainable building that has low running costs and minimal environmental impact both now and in the future.
