In the third series of the ever-popular property show, Grand Designs, The Streets, Kevin McCloud and his team followed the ambitious self build journey of SIPS@Clays clients Chris and Amanda as they built their brand new SIPs family home on a custom build site in the centre of Glasgow.
With two young children and a third on the way, Chris and Amanda wanted to upsize but couldn’t find a new home that would suit their needs. The couple wanted a home that was sustainable; a thermally efficient structure that SIPs are the ideal solution for.
The couple commissioned SIPS@Clays to SIPs design, fabricate and erect the two-storey home, which then, despite the terrible Scottish weather, took our installation team just two weeks to complete to watertight stage.
A true self build in every sense, Chris and Amanda, who have no experience in construction, designed and built their SIPs home themselves. With the help of their DIY enthusiast fathers, and lots of ups and downs along the way, they learnt the skills that they needed and created their forever dream home – what a fabulous achievement.
