Here at Clays we are proud to have been involved with the project creating two beautiful barns all with the help from SIPs (Structurally Insulated Panels).
Jane came to see us in November 2015 at the Northern Homebuilding & Renovating show. Her inspiration was to have two barns to rent out to people looking to get away to the Yorkshire countryside on a short break. She had a beautiful plot of land placed on the famous ‘way of the roses’ cycle route. After a long days ride a nice, comfortable place to rest would be ideal.
After some deliberating Structurally Insulated Panels was the obvious choice. With SIP’s ecological benefits it would be a natural fit for the Yorkshire countryside. SIP’s structures are extremely air tight which results in high levels of insulation. This means that the energy used to cool and heat the room can be cut by up to 50%.
SIP’s allowed for a very quick build. The whole project took just 8 days to complete. 4 days taken for each barn. Our Client couldn’t believe how quickly the process took. A quick build is yet another advantage of Structurally Insulated Panels.
Not only did SIPs provide a great build time but it also provided vaulted ceilings and it was easy to clad in timber boarding. All this made it perfect for the job.
