Andy Porter, one of  the SIPs industry’s leading figures, has announced his retirement from Structural Insulated Panel (SIPs) supplier, SIPS@Clays, with effect from 31st March 2026.

Andy joined Skipton based SIPS@Clays as partner in 2005, when the company was a fledgling organisation. Alongside founders Ian and Alison Clay, he has been instrumental in establishing SIPs as a mainstream method of construction and played a key role in positioning SIPS@Clays as the foremost SIPs provider in the UK.

As one of the first points of contact for countless clients and suppliers, Andy’s sage advice, supported by his outstanding knowledge of both SIPs and traditional construction, has given confidence and reassurance to all.

Now, after a lifelong career in the construction sector, Andy is ready to spend more time on his outdoor pursuits, making the most of his passions for travelling and cycling. He’s planning on more trips to the theatre, reading a few books and definitely having  a little more sleep.

That said, he will continue to support the SIPS@Clays team by working on a consultancy basis, as and when required.

Ian Clay, Founding Partner SIPS@Clays says:

“Andy has been a cornerstone of the business since he joined us 21 years ago. His unwavering support, hard work and significant contribution to making SIPS@Clays the business we see today, is testament to the person that he is, and we thank him, wholeheartedly for that!

“On behalf of the whole SIPS@Clays team, we wish Andy all the best in his retirement.”

Andy Porter says:

“I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of the SIPS@Clays success story but it is now time for spreadsheets and calculators to make way for new hiking boots, cycling gear and leisure time with my partner Emily… And possibly a new dog.

“Over the past 21 years the construction landscape has changed immeasurably, with SIPs going from a relatively unknown method of construction, that many were initially wary of, to now being recognised as a mainstream option, sought after for its many benefits.

“I am exceptionally proud that myself and the incredible team at SIPS@Clays have played a major part in that transition and I can retire happy in the knowledge that my decision to become partner at SIPS@Clays in 2005, was the right one!

Following Andy’s retirement, Richard Rowan, who currently oversees Operations alongside Ian Clay, will take on the role of Sales Partner as of 1st April 2026.
