Energy Efficient SIPs cabins built to create Lake District Corporate Retreat

Dominic & Kerry had a vision to create a resilience and well-being retreat for their employees and the wider corporate market and when they came across a dilapidated farmstead in the Lake District National Park, they knew it was the perfect location to realise their dream.

Located one mile from Lake Ullswater, the couple of have created The Halcyon Club, which is a collection of 21 SIPs cabins, a yoga room and relaxation barn, plus a nutrition centre and gym, all set in the grounds of a 26 acres site, for professionals who are struggling with stress and work overload.

Kingspan TEK SIPs panels were chosen to create the accommodation for their many benefits including speed of build and energy efficiency. Each 10m x 4m cabin took just 3 days each to construct. All the luxury cabins are clad in cedar shingle and have double height rooms with floor to ceiling gable glazing (another one of the advantages of building with SIPs) which make the most of the views of their pond side location and stunning surroundings beyond whilst the nutrition barn and gym is left open to the eaves and is clad in standing seam aluminum. The site, including the new SIPs structures blend seamlessly with the landscape beyond.

Focusing on sustainability, there are newly planted wildflower meadows around the site, including around the ponds, that encourage wildlife including red squirrels, foxes, deer, swallows, geese, ducks and moorhens.
